So I’ve procrastinated for yet another hour, it’s been months since I’ve published an article or even an instagram post and whilst I’m certainly not mourning my lack of social media content, this isn’t an intentional pause.
It’s that creative constipation that comes from over censoring, over thinking, doubting yourself, your voice and generally being paralysed for no real reason other than the mean voice in your head.
And whilst this is common in so many variable situations, this is an all too regular story for women in midlife, struck down by decision fatigue, self doubt and apathy.
“Can we be bothered”, I asked a friend last week over coffee?
“Meh”, she answered and we laughed.
Women that have previously felt confident and at least occasionally self assured of their value in their workplaces, homes and lives are suddenly “meh” So what happens?
At this juncture I could go off into the deep vast territory of our neural patterning, the changes occurring in menopause in our amygdala and hypothalamus in our brains and how that effects not only our ability to regulate temperature but also our emotions.
This part of our brain is literally the location of that mythical “bandwidth” we talk so much about having none of!
